21 weeks, 1 day front view
Well I’ve officially met some milestones with this pregnancy.
*Last week I passed the half way mark. (I’m a little behind on getting this written so I’m actually in the middle of week 21 now, but who’s keeping track anyway)
*At my appointment last week I finally got to hear the baby’s heart beat. (I tried to imitate the sound for Rob when I talked to him on the phone but all he did was laugh at me. So I’m not sure trying to imitate it for you would work out very well. You’ll just have to use your imagination for the sound effects.)
*I started feeling the baby move. I wasn’t really sure if I was feeling the baby or not but around Christmas time it started to become more prominent and now the little thing just doesn’t sit still.
*The little thing gets so active in the evenings that on January 7th Rob was able to feel the baby move, or rather kick. I’m pretty sure it was kicking when Rob felt it for the first time.
*Last week at my appointment, I weighed in at a big whopping 4 ½ pounds heavier than my pre-pregnancy weight. Hey, don’t be haters. It’s not my fault I haven’t gained a ton of weight. Ok, yes it is. I still go to the gym at least 3-4 times a week and I don’t over eat. Just keepin it real people. Oh and those of you who are going to tell me that it’s not healthy for me to not have gained more weight, you’re not my doctor. My doctor was as happy as could be when he saw my steady, yet small weight gain. So there!
*I wore my first pair of “maternity” pants last week. All my other pants were in the washer so I grabbed a pair out of a pile my lovely friend Mirinda leant me and, whalla! I was wearing maternity pants. I’m not knocking on the maternity pants but if I can still wear normal pants, that’s what I’m going for. So I’m back to regular pants today, and most days.
*My belly sort of started to just pop out around New years. Now people, depending on the clothes I’m wearing can actually tell I’m pregnant. I’m sure there are still plenty of people out there who will look at me, again, depending on what I’m wearing, and think I’ve just gained some unwanted weight.
*On January 3rd I had my first baby shower. Yea, it was a little early in the pregnancy and I really kinda didn’t look pregnant, just a little of the above mentioned, a little overweight. At least that’s how I felt. But because we were in Utah, Rob’s mom wanted to have a shower for the Johnson side of the family. It was a very nice shower. Michelle, my very kind SIL hosted it at her house and made all the yummy food and we had a nice little chit chat session as people came and went. Thank you to all of you who came and contributed to our new pile of fun baby stuff. Your gifts will be put to good use.
*Due to many of the above milestones, I’m actually starting to FEEL pregnant. Had you asked me a few weeks ago, I would have told you I still didn’t feel pregnant. I knew I was pregnant, mentally and medically I did anyway. I just didn’t “feel” pregnant.
*And last but certainly not least, I took my first pregnant belly picture. I kept waiting so I could have someone take it of me, but due to our crazy life, I haven’t had anyone around to take that picture for me. I finally resorted to taking my own picture in the mirror. Very exciting right? Yea. Right. I felt like a complete idiot taking a picture of myself in the mirror.
Side view. Showing you how big of an idiot I felt while taking the picture.
